A message from Major General James L. McCoskey about Dan Burton

American's Gun Rights are Still Under Attack!

All of us who value our individual constitutionally mandated right to keep and bear arms, whatever our various callings in life or even political affiliations, must recognize that there are powerful forces unrelentingly determined to dilute or take away entirely that fundamental bulwark of American liberty.  NRA Life Member Congressman Dan Burton is leading the fight against those "anti-gunners."

For most of my adult life I have been a soldier, and along with many of you have fought to protect and promote the liberties enumerated in the Bill of Rights, one of the most important to me being the 2nd Amendment.  In addition to guaranteeing our individual right to keep and bear arms for whatever lawful reason we choose, the Second Amendment serves as a tangible symbol of the fact of our uniquely American system of self government.  The United States of America trusts her ordinary citizens to be armed!  This is a key manifestation of true self government which we must protect at all costs.

Many of us have fought and still are fighting for our rights on the battlefield against external enemies.  But just as important these days is to keep up the fight on the home front against those who seem all too willing to compromise both our National and personal security.  Dan Burton is one of the most fiercely dedicated members of Congress on both counts in protecting America and our individual rights.

The newly elected Democratic Congress along with some Republican "moderates" and the anti-gun lobbyists who find most of their support on the left to moderate side of the political spectrum, like
The Coalition to Stop Gun Violence and The Brady Campaign, are again engaged in a full attack on gun enthusiasts, shooting sports, and especially ordinary citizens who feel the need to employ firearms for personal and family security.  Assuredly, now is the time to roundly defeat those "only government should have guns" elitists.

The stakes are simply too high to take a chance. Let’s send Dan Burton back to Washington D.C. to continue fighting for us.

Sincerely,

James L. McCoskey
